The name of the hotel was inspired by an ancient Roman Street, called Annia Popilia, which in those times linked Rome to the south of Italy. In Roman Times the street was better known as Via Capua Rhegium, which in the area of Capua separted from via Appia, to continue to Reggio Calabria, passing by Vibo Valentia.
